In August of 2014 I saw Dungen perform an amazing live music set to the silent animated film The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926). The show left everyone yearning for more, as the concert was so present, dynamic and rich in good psych vibes – and all Dungen lovers got the best out of the band instrumentally. But nothing happened after that regarding the music, nothing was announced. No DVD, no music release was announced. Dungen released Allas Sak in 2015. Then from nowhere and unexpectedly the music from that evening was released! At least for me it came from nowhere and I was happy to discover that the Norwegian label Smalltown Supersound did the job – and on the 18th November Häxan was released on vinyl at Dungen’s Bandcamp.
Häxan is all instrumental and lets loose their characteristic soundscape that we Dungen fans love. Dungen has itself long ago become a reference point of a sound and this album defines it. It brings back sounds from Tio Bitar, 4, and all the albums included into a soundtrack for any psychedelic rock- and jazz lover alive.
