Last Weeks in Mostar

A good indication you’ve been at the right place is that you feel like you’re leaving when it’s about to get much better. We had a fine winter and early springtime during our stay in Mostar. We also meet and hung out with some nice people. So this is the perfect farewell for this time around, at the height of the journey and just about the first weeks of spring. Happy, satisfied and ready to move on. Mostar was my place of birth and we have been here for two turns. I’m glad that my wife liked it here, and of course if we didn’t like it here, we wouldn’t have stayed. For the last seventeen months we have been here for almost seven months in total, including the first trip here. Being a Bosnian-Swedish family we love to explore both home  regions. We will return to Bosnia & Herzegovina but for now and a good time to come many other destinations are to be explored.

It’s been a great time ever since Florens was born and we’ve been various places and seen some magnificent scenes, we are grateful and humble for that experience. For now, we will head back to Sweden and arrive just about right for the northern springtime. I’m looking forward to get back and explore even more of the various ancient sites on the west coast of Sweden and hopefully head out to another yearly summer road trip in Norway.

We will miss the balcony high up where the birds fly, where light comes into the flat from all directions and no one can look in. Velež mountain range is spectacular to watch in different lights, changing colours and at other times striped with mist sliding from one side to the other.

This is the best way of sleeping, I was working late and long past midnight and when Florens woke up she went to the living room where I basically had crashed. Waking up was like the phrase from Pink Floyd’s Echoes.

Cloudless every day you fall upon my waking eyes

Inviting and inciting me to rise

And through the window in the wall

Come streaming in on sunlight wings

A million bright ambassadors of morning

On of our favourite places is the doll theatre in Mostar, we saw one last show before leaving and the place was packed and happy. I’m so satisfied that my head is growing on my wife’s shoulder.

Springtime in Mostar is something special, and we saw the beginning only. That was that, so much fun, so much work, so much love and good memories to embed in our souls from this time around in Mostar. Off to Split now…

    Hi Sanja,

While I was thinking about what to write about vegetarian and vegan places in Split, I accidentally stumbled on your blog. I’m neither vegetarian nor vegan but simply typical Mediterranean diet follower. (fish, lot of green vegetable, only olive oil).

I have to thank you for nice article about vegetarian and vegan places in Split. I didn’t know Split has so many of them.
