Expanding, drone and minimalistic music. Once upon a time I walked up to a young man on the street, well, we were both young and long haired. After I said “Hello” and got a nice “Hello” back, I asked if he played music of some kind. He answered that he did and I said “Let’s play soon enough”, “Sure” came the reply. We spent a couple of hours that day talking and eating falafel together. It was a cold winter, a deep blue cold with white snow all around. The young man was walking around in a t-shirt with a shirt on top of it, a hat and that was all. He did not look upon the world as most people did, and his manners were very polite, laidback, quiet and different. He said this about music, “If it’s under 20 minutes, it’s pop”. Both of us agreed on that, actually we live like that if you understand the more esoteric connotation of it. Anyhow, the young man disappeared and I never saw him any more. We did play some music together, which I still keep dear in my memory. The concept lives on and maybe one day on some other street he will show up and we’ll play again.
