Autumn road trip over Hardanger

I’ve been to Sognefjell, Rondane and Jotunheimen but never over Hardanger. Once on Norwegian slow television they showed the seven hour train journey from Oslo to Bergen. After seeing that and even though in winter I did the trip, as I lived in Oslo back then. Seeing the landscape I already then planned a road trip, so now it was done. The destination was the Phonofestivalen in Bergen. Just two months ago it was warmer in the mountains on my road trip, but now the autumn makes the highlands very cold after dusk. I really enjoyed the road 7 passing over Hardanger and there was so much beautiful landscape. So next time this way will be done in the summer. But the ultimate award was the starry sky seen in the pitch black mountain night. I forgot the tripod so no photos from that.

There were too many abandoned houses or houses in very bad shape along the way. It’s sad since living there would be perfect and to let it be empty and forgotten is a shame. I also made a stop at the Gardnos meteorite crater, that’s still there after 500 million years. That’s what an object about 2-300 meters can do! It wasn’t anything dramatic but on the epicenter one can see and in some way feel the enormous impact force it created then.
